With almost 60,000 students, the University of New South Wales, known as UNSW Sydney, is a force in the teaching and research community. UNSW Sydney is currently ranked 37th in the world for academic reputation in the QS World University Rankings and has a self-declared reputation in Australia as the most “comprehensive, research-intensive university” in the country.

Scholars at UNSW Sydney have produced 193 blockchain papers, eight of which are highly cited and 83 of which are open access.

In addition to research, UNSW Sydney offers many courses on blockchain with a focus on FinTech, such as Data Management for Fintech, Decentralized Finance, and FinTech Ecosystem and Industry Insights. Students also have opportunities to learn about blockchain through extracurriculars like the Blockchain, Smart Contracts and Cryptocurrency Interest Group and the Blockchain and Crypto Society.

UNSW Sydney hosts many conferences and events on blockchain, such as the UNSW Seminar on Blockchain, Smart Contracts and Cryptocurrency and a panel on “The Trend of Digital Currency and RegTech”, which explored developments in digital currency and regulation technology, and how they impact businesses and other stakeholders.
